A forum is being held Wednesday night, for candidates who are facing opposition in the August Primary Election for 106th District State Representative and Alpena County Commissioner.

The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Alpena County, will be held inside the Granum Theatre at Alpena Community College, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Democrats Lora Greene and John Norton have been invited to the forum.  They are seeking the State Rep. seat and will square off in the primary election.  The winner will face incumbent Republican Sue Allor in the November General Election.

Invited candidates competing for Alpena County Commissioner in August include incumbent District 6 commissioner Ronald McDonald, who is being challenged by fellow Republican Kevin Osbourne.  And incumbent District 7 commissioner Cameron Habermehl, who is being challenged by two fellow Republicans – Kevin Burr and Howard Lumsden.

Candidates will give time-limited opening and closing statements and will have equal time to respond to written questions from the audience.

Ballot proposals will be read but not discussed.

The League of Women Voters continues its 97 year-old tradition of neither supporting nor opposing any candidate or political party.
