The number of flyers boarding airplanes at Alpena County Regional Airport was down in June, but the year to date number remains higher than last year.

Airport manager Steve Smigelski says 840 passengers boarded airplanes last month, plus 55 charter flights, for an enplanement total of 895.  That’s down roughly 4.6 percent from the June 2017 total of 936 enplanements.

The year to date enplanement total of 4,869 is up 430 passengers or 9.7 percent over the first six months of 2017.

Smigelski said he is encouraged by the numbers so far in July.
