A 58 year-old Lachine man was extricated from his vehicle and taken to the hospital following a single vehicle rollover crash Wednesday evening.

Witnesses told state police troopers that the man’s pickup truck passed multiple vehicles in an erratic manner before he lost control, crashed into a ditch and overturned.

Emergency responders needed to use the “Jaws of Life” to get the man out of his truck.  He was subsequently taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 6:40 p.m. on M-32 near James Road.

Police believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Fire departments from Alpena and Green Township assisted at the scene.
