Michigan gas prices up 5 cents

The price of gas in Michigan was up slightly over the week.

AAA Michigan says the new statewide average price for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded fuel is about $2.59, up 5 cents.

Of the ten metro areas surveyed by AAA, the lowest average price for gas was found in the Traverse City area, where it’s about $2.53 a gallon. The highest average price of $2.64 was found in Jackson.

As of Tuesday morning, drivers in the Alpena area were paying an average of about $2.42 a gallon, down 7 cents from one week ago.

According to the latest reports from AAA, Michigan ranks 11th in the nation for most expensive average daily gas price.
