Partners In Prevention and Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority are offering free youth mental health first aid training in Hillman.

Parents of tweens and teens, along with community and church youth leaders, teachers and other adults who regularly interact with young people can learn more about typical adolescent behavior and signs a young person may be experiencing a mental health challenge.

An action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations will be presented, and each participant will receive a manual for future reference.

The eight-hour course will be held on consecutive Saturdays, February 24 and March 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Hillman United Methodist Church.

Advance registration is required by calling 356-2880, no later than Wednesday, February 21.
