Various state and local agencies are hosting a second town hall meeting in Alpena next week, to talk about recent results from residential drinking water wells around the Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC).

The US Air Force and the Michigan Air National Guard announced last October, that high levels of chemical contamination were found in five monitoring wells at the base.

Last week the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality released results from an initial group of 62 residential water wells that were tested near the base.  The majority of the wells had no detectable levels of the chemical; and the wells that tested positive had levels well below an advisory level established by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The town hall meeting is being held inside the Collins Center at the CRTC Thursday.  Residents who want to speak one on one with representatives of various agencies can do so from 4:30 p.m. up until 6 p.m., when the town hall will start.
