UPDATE AS OF 5:30 P.M. WEDNESDAY – PRESS RELEASE FROM PIE&G:

Current Presque isle Electric & Gas Co-op estimates show 1,469 services that are without power this evening.

Of these, around 494 services are on Bois Blanc Island, most of which are seasonal homes.

PIE&G has scheduled a crew on the ferry to the island in the morning, weather and lake conditions permitting.

So far, PIE&G has restored approximately 10,558 services that were knocked out Tuesday after galeforce winds caused catastrophic outages across the state and throughout PIE&G’s service territory.

PIE&G is aware of 13 broken poles and there is widespread tree and line damage. Tree removals, pole replacements and winter weather have combined to increase the time necessary to make repairs. PIE&G crews are being assisted by four crews from Wolverine Power.

PIE&G anticipates that most repairs on larger circuits should be completed tonight but service to smaller and individual circuits will not be restored until Thursday, Dec. 7.

Members who are currently without power should prepare to be without power tonight. Current outage information should be available on our outage map at pieg.com.

Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op provides electric and natural gas service to approximately 42,500 member-owners in northeast Michigan and its headquarters is in Onaway, Michigan.
