Oscoda woman, sterling heights teen crowned pageant queens

A young woman from northeast Michigan and a teenager from downstate were crowned the winners of the Miss Sunrise Side and Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen competitions over the weekend.

Ashley Flowers of Oscoda was crowned Miss Sunrise Side 2017 Saturday night, at a pageant held inside Alcona High School.

Flowers was competiting against 10 other young women from across Michigan.  She won $1,000 in scholarship funds and a full year tuition free scholarship to Alpena Community College.

Grace Newlin of Farmington Hills was the first runner-up.

Victoria Otto of Sterling Heights was crowned Miss Sunrise Side Outstanding Teen.  Otto was competing against 11 other girls.

Kristen Kruzel of Lunar Pier was first runner-up.
