The board of education for Alpena Public Schools has approved a new hire for the high school.

Stephanie Hitchcock will replace former assistant principal Brian Tippman who retired from APS earlier this year after 23 years of service.

Hitchcock is the former Dean of Students at the high school and has been filling in as assistant principal since Tippman left.

Administrators now need to hire a new Dean of Students to replace Hitchcock.

The school board has also approved a move for Michelle Cornish, the current principal at ACES Academy.  Cornish expressed an interest in returning to the classroom earlier this year and that request was approved by the board this week.  Cornish will be teaching English at either the junior high or high school.

A final determination has not yet been made.

High School principal Matt Poli is taking over the top spot at Aces.  His new position includes other duties as well.  The school district is currently accepting resumes for high school principal.
