A conservation group has received a large grant to help restore Milligan Creek in Cheboygan County.

Huron Pines is receiving a $370,000 award through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Aquatic Habitat Grant Program for the work.

It is not known when the project will get underway or how long it will take to complete the job.

The Aquatic Habitat Grant Program funds projects that protect intact and rehabilitate degraded aquatic resources throughout the state.  The program is funded annually by a portion of fishing and hunting license sales.

Huron Pines is a conservation group with a mission to protect the Great Lakes by conserving the forests, lakes and streams of Northeast Michigan.
