4th meth arrest made in ongoing drug investigation
Police have arrested a fourth person in connection with an ongoing methamphetamine investigation in Alpena.
The investigation started in November after the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team (HUNT) received a tip that one or more persons had been purchasing large quantities of pseudoephederine, an over-the-counter decongestant that is also a key ingredient used to manufacture meth.
Three people were arrested and jailed last week, as part of the investigation. And on Monday (Jan 9) a fourth suspect was picked up. A 45 year-old Alpena man has been charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and attempt to over purchase pseudoephedrine.
The other three suspects remain in jail, each on a $100,000 cash bond.
HUNT is in the process of methodically seeking out all persons involved in this meth operation and more arrests are expected.
Police have seized chemicals and other items used to manufacture methamphetamine at a residence on 8th Avenue and at an unknown location in downtown Alpena.
Anyone with information on methamphetamine activity, including meth labs, is asked to contact HUNT at 356-3395.
