Live fire exercises will be conducted at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and Camp Grayling next month, as part of a special two-week training session.

Northern Strike 2013 is a National Guard Bureau sponsored combined arms live fire exercise emphasizing close air support and indirect fire support, major combat operations scenarios, counter-sea/maritime interdiction operations and more.

The exercise will provide tailored, cost effective, and realistic combat training in a joint and multinational environment.  Twenty-four units from 12 States and two coalition partners will participate in the two-week event, August 4 – 17.

Over 500 total force fighter, bomber, mobility, special operation forces, and rotary sorties are planned in order to meet stated objectives for participating units.
