Alpena JV’s win tourney at Northern Lights Arena

The Alpena High School Junior Varsity hockey team won the championship of the Wooden Nickel Tournament at Northern Lights Arena over the weekend.

The Alpena High School Junior Varsity hockey team took top honors at the Wooden Nickel Hockey Tournament at Northern Lights Arena over the weekend

The Wildcats played five games in the tourney and won them all.

Alpena defeated the Grand Valley Red team, 2 -1, in the championship game on Sunday.

Brandon Ciupka scored the first Alpena goal in the title game with assists from Chris Modrzynski and Nick Skuluba.

The second, and winning goal, was scored by Zac Adrian with an assist from Nick Skuluba.

Alpena’s Nick Skuluba was named most valuable player for the tournament.

The Alpena Junior Varsity team will face the West Kent Hawks next Saturday in Gaylord.
