The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will be hosting a pop up food pantry event at the Alpena Mall Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Families in need of food are encouraged to stop by for free dry goods, produce and more.

No proof of income is required but residents should bring boxes or bags to carry food.

The event is being held in cooperation with The Alpena County Human Services Coordinating Council which says a typical giveaway includes 10 to 12 pallets of food.  This one includes 18 to 22 pallets.
Any leftovers will be distributed to local food pantries.

Due to the large size of the distribution additional volunteers are needed.  People who can help should email alpenahscc@gmail.com.
