The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is once again offering a free snowmobile safety class for persons 12 years of age and older.

Michigan law requires children 12 to 16 years of age who operate a snowmobile on public lands to take and successfully pass an approved snowmobile safety course.

The class will be held in the Commissioner’s Room at the Cheboygan County building on Saturday, January 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Students must attend the entire day and parents and adults are also encouraged to take the course, which includes a written test.  Lunch will be provided.

Participants who pass the class will receive a certificate of completion from the sheriff’s office as well as the required snowmobile safety card from the State of Michigan.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by contacting the sheriff’s office at 231-627-3155.
