The 6th annual Michigan State Police Stuff a Blue Goose campaign in Alpena can be called nothing short of a success.

Troopers and other staff members stood outside Walmart and Neiman’s Family Market for an eight-hour period Saturday, collecting non-perishable foods, toys, hygiene products and winter clothing items for less fortunate families.

Residents helped fill MSP SUV’s eight times, collecting an estimated 838 toys and 3,679 food items.

Toys and half the food donations were given to the Salvation Army of Alpena.  The other half of the food was given to St. Bernard’s Friendship Room.

The MSP thanks residents and businesses for their giving spirit this holiday season.
