The Michigan State Police Alpena Post logged a total of 70 calls for help over the week.

Troopers were also on scene of 12 traffic accidents and nine arrests, including three for drunk driving.

One of those arrests occurred last Monday when a trooper on patrol was almost involved in an accident after another vehicle failed to yield the right of way.  The driver of the vehicle, a 58 year-old Alpena man, was subsequently pulled over and arrested for operating while intoxicated.

This past Sunday troopers were dispatched to US 23 near Ossineke for a vehicle in the ditch.  They were told the driver may be intoxicated.  That investigation led to the arrest of a 29 year-old Mikado man for drunk driving.  He was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon after a pistol was found under the driver’s seat.

The suspect did not have a concealed weapons permit.
