The Alpena Book Festival is being held downtown Saturday, offering attendees a chance to meet and chat with some authors from around the region.

The full day event includes panel discussions, author talks, meet and greets, and educational sessions for aspiring writers.

Six authors will be participating.  The festival is being held at three locations – the library, Blue Phoenix Books and Olivet Book & Gift.

Two authors will talk about their books at the library at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.  Author readings will take place at Blue Phoenix Books at 1 p.m., followed by a panel discussion about “why I write.”

Another Panel discussion will held at Olivet Book & Gift at 3 p.m., followed by author readings at 4 p.m.  And book sales and signings will be held at both stores starting at 5 p.m.

As in years past, tote bags filled with advanced readers copy books will be available for sale.  Proceeds from the sale of the tote bags benefit the READ adult literacy program at the Library.

For additional information visit the festival’s website at www.alpenabookfestival.wixsite.com.
