MI Brown Trout goes green

Submitted by Phil Heimerl on July 13, 2018 – 12:40 amNo Comment

The Michigan Brown Trout Festival is going green.

Festival organizers have teamed up with Alpena Resource Recovery to recycle thousands of plastic cups that would otherwise end up in the trash.

Festival-goers will notice dozens of recycling containers in and around the Big and Little tents this year, to responsibly dispose of plastic cups.

Festival President Peggy Donakowski said, “This is a huge step towards making our festival as green as possible.  By recycling thousands of plastic cups we can ensure that this waste remains out of the water, and help keep Thunder Bay and Lake Huron plastic free!”

The Michigan Brown Trout Festival kicks off Friday evening and continues through next Sunday, July 22.
