Alpena Public Schools (APS) is hosting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion program for high school seniors and their parents Tuesday.

Staff from APS, Alpena Community College and Alpena Career and College Access Network will be on hand to assist with completion of the FAFSA, which is necessary to receive assistance to pay for higher education and training.

“The FAFSA form is very important, it is used for grants, scholarships, loans and work study programs”, said high school counselor Lori Vought.  “All families can benefit from completing the FAFSA regardless of their financial situation.”

Participants should bring with them Federal 1040 tax forms and W-2 statements for both parents and students, along with a disability income statement and child support payments, if applicable.

It is also helpful if students register online for a Federal Student Aid ID in advance of the event at https://fsaid.ed.gov.

The program is being held inside the high school D211 Computer Lab from 6 to 8 p.m.  Families with questions should contact the high school counseling office at 358-5217.

Families who need help but cannot attend tonight’s program should contact College Advisor Ashley Popp at 358-5243.
